It’s about motherfucking time.
Both Rush and Deep Purple (along with Yes, The Moody Blues, and a bunch of other bands) belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s criminal that they’re not yet in, I do declare.
Rush and Deep Purple were announced as two of the 15 finalists for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s Class Of 2013.
For the first time ever, you — John Q. Public — can have a say in who makes it. Go here, and vote for who you want to see inducted next year.
The induction is set for April 18, 2013, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, marking the first time the ceremony will be held in the city since 1993. HBO will tape the show for broadcast at a later date.
Who else is in the running? Heart, which I agree with, and N.W.A., which I don’t. Not before the Moody Blues or Yes, folks.
If N.W.A. makes it into the Rock Hall before Rush or Deep Purple, I’ll go on a shooting rampage.
Chic is also being considered, as are Kraftwerk, Procol Harum (worthy, I’d say), Public Enemy, The Meters, Randy Newman, and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.
