Deftones Side Project Sol Invicto Release Free EP

She’d like this crap

Sol Invicto, which is the side project of Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter, has released a free EP, which you can access through their Facebook page.

I’m not saying you should download it. What I am saying is the EP is free. To me, the songs kind of sound like Rammstein meets Atari Teenage Riot, with no vocals.

Not sure I like this. At all, actually. But Stephen’s work with the Deftones is brilliant. Maybe this will be one of those records that grows on you. Somehow I doubt it.

A press release describes the music as “twisted cinematic drum ‘n’ bass mixed with the tones of Stephen Carpenter and tribal percussion of Cypress Hill’s Eric Bobo.”

The EP, called Initium, also features guest drummer Zach Hill from Hella and Team Sleep. By all accounts, this should be awesome. But it is not.

The band allegedly have two more EPs on the way, and one will feature Dan Foord, formerly of Sikth, a band that you should know of because they ruled while they were active.
