This year, I feel like a lot of blah news came out of NAMM.
The national convention usually yields news of lots of new records and other interesting tidbits. This year, though, we learned very little if anything worth mentioning.
The folks at MusicStoreLive.com did, however, pique my interest with an interview they did during NAMM with Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter.
The Deftones, as regular readers know, is one of my all-time favorite bands and there isn’t a note they’ve written I don’t appreciate.
Carpenter told the site that the band expect to hit the studio next month to begin tracking their next record.
“We’re actually writing a new record and we’re gonna… We’re supposed to be going in to record it next month, but we’re taking it as it goes. I mean, we’re not all the way ready now, but we’ve still got time and we’re working on it.”
Most of the writing for the new one took place in the latter part of last year.
I can’t wait for new Deftones. The band never lets me down.
