For starters, that image there is what the album’s cover is going to be. I dig it.

But more importantly, all of the details regarding the tribute album to David Gold — a founding member of Ontario black and doom metal band Woods of Ypres, who was killed in a car accident late last year — have been released.

“As a thank you and farewell to Woods of Ypres, I reached out to those who were influenced by Woods and David, so join me in creating a musical salute to one of the greatest doom metal bands to unleash onto the underground metal scene,” says Steph LeDrew; the tribute was his brainchild.

Here’s how the album is shaping up.

Novembers Doom has recorded a version of “Wet Leather,” while Pagan Ritual tackled “The Shams of Optimism.”

The disc will also boast covers by Amaranth, Canopy, Unbowed, Panzerfaust, Eclipse Eternal, and others.

A release date for the effort has not yet been announced.

I guess Kittie didn’t make the cut?
