Devin Townsend initially produced Lamb of God’s As The Palaces Burn, an album I still consider a heavy metal classic worthy of high praise.
The album recently was reworked by the band’s producer Josh Wilbur, and guess what? Devin likes the new version better.
Various production issues stymied the album’s original recording sessions, as well as a lack of budget.
“A few Tweets on the Lamb Of God remix and documentary I just got and watched,” says Dev.
“1) It’s a really good closure for myself. It sounds great,” he says. “2) Shaun Thingvold, Dan, Carla and everyone in Vancouver saved that record. Without them it wouldn’t exist. 3) The band were very diplomatic and extremely kind in the interview. Thanks for that. Its been a thorn in my side for years.”
And lastly, “Josh Wilbur is a maniac. I couldnt even imagine the patience it took to make this come to life. What a great job. Ok…as you were.”
The tenth anniversary edition of As The Palaces Burn drops November 11.
It boasts a new documentary which features both Wilbur and Townsend.
