Here’s a massive news update from Devin Townsend. Because we like Devin Townsend around here.
So, a live retail release of Devin’s “The Retinal Circus” is tentatively set to hit stores in July on Blu-ray/DVD.
The set features footage from an ambitious show Dev staged in London last October.
The set even features Devin performing with his band, tackling some Strapping Young Lad tunes.
On that note, some recent live performances from the Devin Townsend Project in Mexico and Santiago, Chile, have featured Strapping material as part of the set list.
Townsend has since taken to Twitter to say that he won’t be doing that again any time soon.
“So just wanted to say: yeah, I played Love in South America and it was a mistake,” says Devin.
“I didn’t think it through as I had said I wouldn’t again. I figured it had not been played there before so I’d do it as a ‘cover tune’. But it just confuses people. It won’t be played again. Thanks for the support – signed: ‘work in frikkin progress’ again, my mistake fully.”
