The other day (or was it yesterday?), I speculated on what the mysterious countdown clock, which appeared on Dimmu Borgir’s MySpace page over the weekend, could be counting down to. Tour dates? A preview of the forthcoming disc? A collaboration with Demi Lovato called Demi Borgir???
The answer is, something way worse. Leave it to Dimmu to get me all excited about something and then just kick me in the crotch with a bloody cover art reveal. That’s right…they installed a countdown clock to build anticipation for a quarter of the new album’s artwork. The upper left corner of it. Gee, dope.
From what I can tell, it looks like its going to be another generic skull/robot-looking type dude with wires and chords snaking their way in and out of his noggin. Of course, its dark, and, well, “industrial goth metal” looking. I don’t know, man. I’ve never really understood what makes Dimmu so great, or why, of all the black metal, corpse-paint wearers, people seem to have latched on to Borgir. They’ve become the face of this whole thing, and, I’m sorry, that doesn’t sit well with me. But, I don’t make the fucking rules.
Blabbermouth got a hold of an interview with the guy who did the artwork. But really, is there anything more boring than reading an interview with a dude about some graphic he pulled together for some band’s lame CD? Oh, wait, I know…watching cum dry. Dimmu’s new disc drops October 12.
