So, this is different.
The annual Dirtfest is starting to take shape, but from what I can tell, this year, things are going to be very different. Just two years ago, this festival featured bands like Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Origin, Born of Osiris, Ensiferum, and Decrepit Birth. Now, after last year’s no-name lineup (Riksha, A Balance of Power, Denots, Arsenic Addiction, Ravings of a Madman, Incideous, and Massacre at the Wake), the festival is going for a more commercial sound.
Set for August 13th at the Birch Run Expo Center in Birch Run, Michigan, the festival will feature All That Remains and Times of Grace, featuring our pal Jesse Leach. That’s about as hard as it gets on this year’s installment.
Then, there’s Evans Blue, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Alien Ant Farm, Burn Halo, Janus, Egypt Central, Psychostick, Blue Felix, and Wilson.
I wonder why they decided to switch direction so drastically. You go from death metal to fucking Hawthorne fucking Heights? If I lived in Michigan, I’d be pissed.
