Swedish speed metal outfit Disfear have reported some sad news this morning…that long-time bassist Henrik Frykman has died after a long bout with an unspecified cancer.
According to a statement from the band — Björn Pettersson, Marcus Andersson, Ulf Cederlund and Tomas Lindberg — Frykman passed away last Friday (March 25).
“It is with heavy hearts we inform you that on Friday the 25th of March, Henrik Frykman passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer,” the statement says. “Henrik will be greatly missed by family and friends.”
Frykman first joined the band in 1990, when they were known as Anti-Bofors; the band changed its name a year later to Disfear. The band has morphed and evolved over the past 20 years into an internationally recognized and respected band.
They have toured the world over and released a number of critically-acclaimed full-length albums including 2008’s Live The Storm.
This is truly sad. Another metal legend fades into the great abyss.
