In early 2013, we’ll be getting our first taste of Phil Anselmo’s solo shit.
Anselmo reveals that he will release a split 10-inch EP with Texas thrashers Warbeast on January 8, 2013.
The split will be release on his own Housecore label.
Entitled War Of The Gargantuas, the release is expected to include a pair of previously unreleased tracks from Warbeast — “It” and “Birth Of A Psycho” — along with with two songs from Anselmo’s forthcoming solo debut, Walk Through Exits Only.
Phil has previously said his solo album’s the best thing to happen to the Earth since the invention of oxygen.
“I am a lover of all sorts of music but really my heart is … really I love extreme music, underground music, whether it be grindcore, death metal, thrash, black metal, [or whatever other] subgenre, and I find beauty in a lot of this stuff,” Phil said in an interview.
“I wanted to do an extreme record that didn’t necessarily fit in any of those aforementioned categories, really, but it’s metal. It’s very tough for me to describe, man. I really wanted to do an extreme record again. I did it out of pure, fucking need — need — and love. I just needed to do it for myself.”
