Down’s Phil Anselmo Plays With Bloody Head

According to Blabbermouth, Skid Row guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo — who works as an artist manager at McGhee Entertainment, the company representing Down — posted a message on Twitter, claiming that Phil Anselmo performed at Down’s New York show last night with a bleeding head.

“Holy shit! [Down guitarist] Pepper Keenan just hit [frontman Philip] Anselmo in the head with his guitar by accident [during the band’s performance at the Best Buy Theater in New York City] and busted Philip’s head open,” Sabo writes. “Blood all over the place! But they keep going!! Fucking awesome!”

I’m not so sure that’s “awesome.” I’d say unfortunate, because generally, head wounds are not awesome. They’re serious shit.

The head smashing apparently took place during the song “Lifer.” Anselmo dedicated the track to his late Pantera bandmate “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
