Dredg Are One Of The Best Bands Ever

Dredg

It’s true. No, they’re not metal. But if you’re into progressive, edgy rock (and who isn’t?) like Porcupine Tree, then Dredg should be right up your alley. Dredg are one of those bands who consistently blow me away, because they’re all just so musical. I mean, the drummer is also the piano player. How does that work live? Just how you think — one hand on the keys, one hand holding a stick.

While kissing Dredg’s ass is easy, I must admit: They have never released anything as perfect as 2002’s El Cielo. If you buy just one Dredg album, that should be the one. And after you hear it, you’ll want all their other albums.

The good news is, Dredg will be touring this fall with Animals As Leaders, Circa Survive, and Codeseven. I’m not sure if Dredg has been working on new stuff, or if this is just the final tour on the album cycle for 2009’s The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion, but either way, this should be a good tour. Smell you jerks there.
