This is beyond rad. And yes, I’m fully aware Dredg are not a metal band. But fuck you, I like ‘em — and so do a lot of metal heads, whether they’d admit it or not.
Get this: Dredg will be playing some select East and West Coast dates this winter. They’re playing two shows in New York.
The tough decision is…which night do you go? I’d have to argue the first night…November 9, when Dredg will be playing their groundbreaking 2002 LP El Cielo from first brilliant note to last.
But then the next night (November 10 for you retards), they’re playing 2005’s Catch Without Arms — also a fine album, more more commercial and less experimental.
Both shows are also at the Bowery Ballroom, an excellent venue. Maybe if one was at Roseland, it’d make the decision easier. But fuck…they’re both at Bowery!
Bad news for those in Philadelphia: You guys only get one night of Dredg — November 8 at the Theatre of Living Arts. I’d imagine they’ll be playing selections from both LPs, but I just can’t say that for certain.
They’re also playing two shows in California. San Francisco gets Catch Without Arms Dredg on December 20 at the Great American Music Hall, while the next evening, Santa Cruz gets El Cielo Dredg at The Catalyst.
Not sure how close those two cities are to one another, but fuck…I’d imagine the distance might make the decision for you. But I don’t know.
I think I have to go both nights, and write it off…whatever that is, exactly.
By the way, the band claims they’ll be playing more of these shows throughout the globe, so don’t get your panties all in a bunch.
