And to use the word “dad” isn’t really appropriate. Scientific? Sure. But rocker Ted Nugent did little more than provide genetic material. He did not raise the Brooklyn restaurant owner he recently met for the first time; he gave him up for adoption.
And now, The New York Daily News has brought us the cheerful story of Ted’s reunion with Ted Mann, who is the biological son Nugent gave up for adoption 42 years ago. Weird that he ended up with the same name: Ted. But not surprising that Mann turned out alright, given the absence of Nugent’s parental influence.
Mann ended up becoming a business man. He’d probably be a NASCAR driver if Ted had kept him. Notice in the picture that Ted is the spitting image of Ted, basically. They have the same fucking teeth!
Mann, who lives in Bay Ridge, learned back in October from a sister he never knew he had that Nugent was his father.
“I’m like, ‘What!?,’” laughed Mann, whose newest eatery is Cabana Social in Williamsburg. “It took me a little while to kind of breathe normal again — and not just sit in my house staring at YouTube videos of him running around like a crazy person.”
Nugent welcome Mann into his kith. “His first words to me were ’Hello, son,’” Mann said. “Within an hour of knowing him, he said, ‘Let’s go shoot some guns.’”
That last quote sounds made up.
