Ex Deo are a metal band based around an Ancient Roman theme. The band’s fronted by Kataklysm’s Maurizio Iacono, and this news is old. I just kept forgetting to get around to it. Regardless, the band is looking forward to 2011.
That’s because as soon as Kataklysm’s 2011 touring obligations are met, Ex Deo will begin pre-production on its next album, Caligula — which also happens to be The Goat’s favorite movie, after “Gummo.”
“Expect a revolutionary album that will breathe the word ‘NEW’ into a much-stagnant metal industry,” says Iacono, boldly. He’s in a concept band about Ancient Rome…and he’s throwing around the word “new.” That’s rad. If these guys were true to the concept, they’d go unplugged.
“It is yet undermined which label will release Caligula as we are looking at many different options,” the singer adds. “I feel Ex Deo is changing the game of the underground, bringing a theater to the live stage and bringing a new concept that has never done before. This is a beast of a band and we would like to thank everyone for the great support.”
Ex Deo are currently on tour with Nile, Psycroptic, and Keep of Kalessin.
