And you fucks better not be expecting a rock record from him!
Former The Mars Volta vocalist Cedric Bixler Zavala has been on Twitter again, this time talking up his impending solo album.
Recording sessions have already begun for the studio set, with producing going down this weekend at Seahorse Sound studio in Los Angeles.
Bixler-Zavala is handling the vocals and guitars for the sessions with Jonny Polonsky on guitars, keys, and lap steel; Juan Alderete (ex-The Mars Volta) on bass and Gregory Rogove on drums.
“Just finished recording 3 extra songs for my record with Noah Georgeson,” writes Cedric. “Gotta finish singing on them. Very excited by it.”
“Lots of desert ballad space jams, lots of harmonies, lots of lap steel and piano. Lots of AM radio love songs,” he cautions. “Short bitter sweet luv songs. Be warned I’m not making a rock record. It might lightly rock but not like I’m known for.”
I’d love to see a black metal record from Cedric. Themed around the Day of the Dead and in which cadavers come back to life to eat rape babies.
More news is coming on this release, I am sure.
