Guest Column: Five Albums That Will Change You By Bloodsoaked’s Peter Hasselbrack

A long time ago, we asked a bunch of bands to submit columns on the following topic: Five Albums That Will Change Your Life. Today, we bring you an entry provided by Bloodsoaked’s Peter Hasselbrack.

Obituary’s Slowly We Rot
John Tardy… What else can I say? His vocals are insane and while the production of this albums sounds like it was recorded in a tin can this is a must listen to album. The songs are great and this was the beginning of Death Metal as we know it today. Best song is “Gates to Hell.”

Pestilence’s Consuming Impulse
Martin van Drunen…his vocals are so powerful and this still remains in my play list after 25 years. The guitars are so thick and full and the whole album is a masterpiece. There is no better Death Metal album.

Slayer’s Reign In Blood
Slayer comes to life on this albums and shows that they are true god haters and crush on the alter of death. The riffs, songs, and so much more will stick with you forever.

Megadeth’s Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying
This is personally my favorite Thrash album of all time. The guitar leads are so classic and songs so well written. This is the best Dave Mustaine has ever been or ever will be. Each song on this album stands alone in the Thrash Hall of Fame.

Metallica’s Ride the Lightning
This is close to my favorite and just misses but not by much. Metallica was great at one time and just one listen to this album will have you wondering what the fuck happened to them. This is a classic Trash.
