By now, you should know the drill. We’ve been having musicians from across metal’s grand spectrum pen brief guest columns for us on a number of engaging topics: must-read books, must-see films, and bands you may not know but absolutely should.
Today’s column was written by Fleshworld guitarist Kuba Leszko.
Wrekmeister Harmonies is a Chicago-based project run by JR Robinson. His (their) album You’ve Always Meant So Much To Me is one of the best things that has happened to me in the last couple of years. It’s a mixture of all the genres I love: organic drones and ambience mixed with dark, doomy riffs, harsh vocals and a black metal mood.
It’s an absolute masterpiece, definitely one of the best albums I’ve ever heard and something I can definitely recommend.
Plebeian Grandstand is a blackened hardcore, power violence band from France. Together with a friend of mine, we decided that it sounds like the post rock version of Deathspell Omega with hardcore vocals.
Definitely one of the best bands within the genre. Brutal and intelligent music. I cannot wait to see them play live. Totally worth checking out.
Lennox Row is a project from our hometown. It’s a nice blend of ambient, electronic and trip-hop elements.
It’s hard for me to compare Lennox Row to anything I know as I’m not a big fan of the genre but their music talks to me the way it should. Two EPs recorded, both highly recommended.
