By now, you should know the drill. We’ve been having musicians from across metal’s grand spectrum pen brief guest columns for us on a number of engaging topics: must-read books, must-see films, and bands you may not know but absolutely should.

Today’s column was written by Ion Vein guitarist Chris Lotesto.

Kill Ritual
These guys are a great “old school” style thrash band out of San Jose, California, formed by Steve Rice, who also founded the now defunct Imagika, and they’ve got a new record out called The Eyes of Medusa so get it and crank it!

Cypher 16
These guys are a cool new “organic rock” band out of London that combine metal and some electronic/industrial elements to come up with a pretty unique take on heavy rock music.

They’ve got a couple of EPs out so go find them!

Scar, Inc.
This is an “all-star” (so-to-speak) melodic death metal band consisting of some really good Chicago friends of mine.

It’s the brainchild of John Barr who sings for Eden’s Fall, and features Rich Knight on guitar and Rob Such on bass, both of whom play in Twelfth Gate, and both of whom play live with Ion Vein so that makes this band even cooler!

They released three demo tracks so far and will be releasing a full EP soon so keep an eye out!
