Nihilo

By now, you should know the drill. We’ve been having musicians from across metal’s grand spectrum pen brief guest columns for us on a number of engaging topics: must-read books, must-see films, and bands you may not know but absolutely should.

Today’s column comes from Damiano Fedeli of Swiss death metal band Nihilo.

Funeral Whore
We had the pleasure to play some shows with these Dutch maniacs! Their brand of old school Swedish death metal is simply amazing! Grave and Entombed are for sure the greatest influences, but the right portion of Bolt Thrower is what makes them fucking heavy!

Their live energy is perfectly captured on their first album Step Into Damnation.

They are now working on the 2nd album which is going to be released through FDA Rekotz.

Defaced
Great friends of us, played some shows with them as well. They are surely one of the most promising acts from Switzerland! A combination of old and new, brutal straight forward death metal, groovy with some melodies here and there! Be sure to check this out!

Defaced are now in the legendary HERTZ Studios (Behemoth, Decapitated) working on their second effort as well. Artwork by the master Dan Seagrave (Morbid Angel, Entombed, etc.)

Listen to some material right here. Especially “Insane Memories.”

Cremation
One of the oldest and still active death metal bands from Switzerland. In 2012 they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released their third album Rise Of The Phoenix.

They are playing their very own mix of death metal, consisting from brutal to groovy old school stuff. In March 2014, the guys hit the road with Resurrection (Florida) and played numerous shows throughout Europe.

We played some shows with them and always had great fun hanging with the guys afterwards.
