By now, you should know the drill. We’ve been having musicians from across metal’s grand spectrum pen brief guest columns for us on a number of engaging topics: must-read books, must-see films, and bands you may not know but absolutely should.

Today’s column was written by Mitch Roemer of Old Lines (ex-Pulling Teeth/Ruiner guitarist). Old Lines is releasing a new record called No Child Left Behind on October 14, available for pre-order here.

Ilsa is the heaviest band ever to come out of Washington, D.C. If you took Bolt Thrower and Amebix, melted the records together and played them at the wrong speed so its slower and heavier.

If you like noise rock that meets AM Rep influenced grindcore, then Triac will make your life better. They sound like pure misery blasting through your speakers at an alarming rate.

No Tomorrow
Punk as fuck influenced by Swedish D-beat with a modernized twist to it. These dudes play super hard, rip super hard and destroy everything with a sonic assault of unrelenting punk that is rare to witness. The best way to see this band is in a basement that’s getting ripped apart while double fisting PBR and smashing them against your head.
