Haste The Day, a Christian band I just never “got,” are throwing in the old proverbial towel, as it were. That’s right…Haste The Day is no more. In a statement, the band called the decision “a very difficult” one, and that they’ll be doing their farewell tour in February.
OK, I don’t get this new trend. Hey, we’re breaking up…but come see us one last time when we tour this spring!!! I mean, I guess it would’ve been cool if all the bands I loved that broke up did that when I was young, but every band seems to be doing that these days. If you can tolerate one another for a fucking farewell tour, what’s the problem? Why break up at all?
The statement says that the band is ending because “we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our lives.”
What? Doing nothing publicly, but writing new stuff behind closed doors, until five years from now, when you get back together, release the new shit and do a reunion tour?
“We wanted to use our passion for heavy music and the love that God put in us to be a light in the underground scene; letting people know they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man. I never imagined that we would be able to put out five full length albums, tour the world, and develop so many meaningful relationships with the people who came to our shows. Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
Those tour dates to come. Oh well, another band I don’t have to hear anything more about. Next…?
