Several users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 have duly received an official notification from Microsoft to book a copy of Windows 10 in advance. If you have received the message then it would not be a problem to you, but if you have not yet received it you need to stop worrying as we know a way to sort this out. To make this work you need to have a genuinely active Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 copy.
Step 1: if you are using Windows 7 then you need to have Service Pack 1 installed or downloaded from automatic updates. If you are using Windows 8, then you need to have Windows 8.1 update installed. These updates can easily be accessed by from Windows Update Center. Apart from all these you further need to have a March update namely KB3035583 installed on your PC as well. If you have activated Automatic Updates then it is highly likely that you may have downloaded the March and all the relevant updates. Rest assured they can be downloaded from Windows Update Center.
Step 2: Once you have installed the March update, you will see an icon in the lower right corner of the tray indicating to get a Windows 10 copy, click on it.
Step 3: When you click it, you will be displayed bunch of screens having greetings and news how Microsoft has planned to offer Windows 10 free of cost to their existing Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. Keep progressing until you reach the last screen asking for your email address.
Step 4: Enter a valid and working email address as this is where you will receive a confirmation email featuring your interest in Windows 10
Step 5: Once you have entered a valid email address, press Send Confirmation button to get done
As soon as Windows 10 will be officially launched, you will get a copy of it automatically on your PC free of charges.
If you want to cancel your confirmation you can also do so by following these easy steps:
Step 1: Click on the Windows icon in the system tray over bottom right corner of your screen
Step 2: Now click on the three horizontal lines on the top left hand side
Step 3: You will see several options available to choose from. Select Cancel Reservation
