Say what? You don’t know Daughters? I guess you must hate bands that are — or in Daughters’ case, were — innovative, complex, and way ahead of their time. It was just over a year ago that Daughters made it official, announcing to me and Noisecreep that they were over. It was a sad day for me, because Daughters smashed my mind apart.
I remember Lex telling me about the band’s “big falling out.” He explained to me that what it boiled down to was creative differences.
“The band basically fell apart,” he told me. “It came to a point where I said, ‘This isn’t for me. This is bulls—. I’m not happy here, and I’m not happy with these certain people.’”
We will never, ever get new Daughters. Man, do I miss that band. Live, they were phenomenal. I once saw the band play an entire set with Lex standing with his back to the audience.
If you never heard Daughters’ final posthumous LP, you should. It is, without question, the most accessible offering they’ve ever released…but more than half of it is beyond reproach.
