I don’t know what prompted Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison to walk off stage Thursday (January 27) night while playing with his other band, Murderdolls, in France. But let’s just say it wasn’t technical difficulties.
In the video that appears at the end of this post, you will see — at about the one-minute mark — that Jordison, who plays guitar in the band, is fine one second, glances into the crowd, and then unstraps his axe and tosses it at the drum rising just before storming off the stage in anger.
Watch the video, and tell me it was “technical difficulties,” which is how the band is explaining last night’s incident. I bet you someone gave him the finger or yelled “Slipknot” or something. He was close to the crowd when whatever it was that pissed him off happened. I’m so curious as to what this was all about.
To the band’s credit, they played on, and finished the song “Twist My Sister.” At least someone’s professional in that band and not driven by ego.
According to an account of what happened that appeared on Blabbermouth, Murderdolls left the stage after finishing the song, and then came back — with Joey — five minutes later; singer Wednesday 13 apologized for “technical problems.” But after another couple of numbers, Joey walked off stage a second time, not to be seen for the rest of the night. The band played a few more songs without him.
