So, this is rather interesting. Over at MetalSucks, one of their readers — a guy calling himself “J.A.M.” — forwarded them an e-mail he received from Judas Priest’s camp.
The email asked fans to take a survey, asking for “your thoughts on new guitarist Richie Faulkner,” who replaced a retiring K.K. Downing not that long ago.
The survey asked some rather innocent questions at first, like “How likely are you to buy the next Judas Priest album?” and “What is your favorite thing about Judas Priest?”
But before long, they got to the meat: “What are your thoughts on new Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner? How does he COMPARE to K.K. Downing and has he changed your opinion of the band at all?”
What the fuck is this all about?
Clearly, the band’s management are trying to capitalize on Judas Priest’s resurgent popularity, and maybe they’re trying to figure out if Richie should stay or go. I have no idea. Either way, I am perplexed and kind of disgusted by this. The band probably knows nothing about this survey, but the people behind it should probably consider sprucing up their resumes.
