Kim Thayil Explains Why Soundgarden Is Playing Before NIN This Summer

The Nails have a bigger stage show, is all

It’s simple.

Nine Inch Nails has a bigger stage show…a larger production.

And for Kim Thayil, Soundgarden’s “more of a live rock act, and they use a lot of production, both in the audio performance and the visual performance.”

The bands will tour North America this summer starting July 19 in Las Vegas.

“If we were to play after them, it would be a long wait while they struck all their equipment and gear and they cleared the stage for us. It’s a lot easier for us to play before them. It would be very difficult logistically [for us to close the show].”

So that settles that.
