I don’t often support causes for the sheer humor of them, but I have to with this.
A petition has started to get Mina Caputo — who you may know as Life of Agony frontman Keith Caputo — into the upcoming issue of Revolver Magazine, where they feature and salivate over the same five boring metal chicks.
I say, if they can feature a girl who is not yet a woman like they did with Brooklyn Allman, why not get Mina Caputo in there?
To be honest, I know those close-minded fucks would never let this happen, but I think it would be funny for pressure to be applied to the same magazine group that threatens to withhold ink coverage for bands if their labels don’t provide their site’s with exclusive online content.
Here is the online petition you can sign to get a man into the Hottest Chicks in Metal feature.
Why start a petition? “An icon in the metal and hardcore scenes, Mina (nee Keith) Caputo fronted the legendary Life Of Agony,” the petition says.
“We, the undersigned, feel that one way the metal scene can further show its support for Caputo is to have her featured in Revolver Magazine’s Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock. While the feature been subject to criticism as promoting sexism and exploitation of women, Revolver’s editor-in-chief Brandon Geist and other defenders have countered that the feature is meant to empower and celebrate women. Including Caputo here would make a significant step towards mending that rift by recognizing that a transgendered musician in this scene is worthy of such celebration and empowerment.”
Let’s do it. It’ll be hilarious.
