That’s right, people.
Scott Weiland is on a bender somewhere, and the Stone Temple Pilots — who fired him not that long ago — are moving on.
The band performed on Saturday, with Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington in place of Weiland.
The surprise performance went down at the 21st annual KROQ Weenie Roast at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California.
Bennington and the band played a bunch of old tunes, and then unveiled a new one, called “Out Of Time.”
You can download that song here.
According to Tweets from Chester Bennington, more shows will go down.
“Just played the first show with STP! It was fucking AMAZING! FYI, I will never leave LP. We are currently working on a new record and its awesome!”
Meanwhile, the band’s Dean DeLeo writes online, “Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time. We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”
So does this mean Chester is the band’s new singer?
It would appear so.
