When I worked at MTV News, I covered the Video Music Awards every year. One year, I was even in Las Vegas for the show, and got to hang with Lemmy Kilmister, Mastodon, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age. It was fucking rad. I even hit on Jessica Biel, to no avail. That same year, pseudo-metal act Linkin Park played some lame-ass video game launch party. They played one or two songs, and were done. They also played the big show, from an outside stage located near the VMA site.
This year, Linkin Park will be back because they have a new record called A Thousand Suns coming out September 14, so naturally, they’re going to be at the VMAs on September 12 to plug the shit out it. They’ll also be performing their new single, “The Catalyst,” live for the first time during the show, according to Blabbermouth.
The VMAs air at 9 p.m. from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The day the album drops, Linkin Park will be in New York to play at the Nokia Theater in Times Square.
Here’s the video for the band’s new hit single. Enjoy.
