I hate to say it, folks.
Devin Townsend has finally done it. He’s finally participated in the creation of a song I don’t like.
There. You happy now?
I’m sorry, seriously. It sounded like it would be awesome, the track that follows at the end of this post.
System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian WITH Ihsahn AND metal’s King Midas, Devin Townsend — on the same fucking track?
Well, it was too good to be true.
Not sure who is singing on the majority of this track, called “We Are.” I know when Serj is singing, that’s obvious.
The other guy, however, sounds like he wants to be some blend of Peter Steele and Mike Patton, which is weird. (UPDATE: That “other guy” is allegedly Ihsahn, even though it sounds nothing like him to my ears; there are two other singers beyond Serj listed as contributing to the song so I wasn’t sure.)
Yeah, this song…it’s like when they made a Broadway musical about Spider-Man. It was like, “Finally — something with Spider-Man that I want no part of.”
That’s how I feel aout this song.
The tune is a charity single and will be available for purchase July 18.
