Yes, folks — it is going down in Detroit in 2013.
I am not sure how Metallica arrived at the decision they’d throw the second installment of their Orion Music + More festival there, but they did. And now, the Detroit Free Press is reporting the location for the upcoming multi-day concert.
Belle Isle has been approved as the location. The agenda for the Detroit City Council’s January 8 meeting includes a line item for a finance department and purchasing division contract that gives Belle Isle as the location for Orion through 2015.
Hmm. So, maybe it won’t move again as it did this year. I wonder if it was supposed to go down again in Atlantic City, but was moved because of Sandy, that destructive cunt.
It also states that the contract was approved through the recess procedure for the week of December 10 — whatever the fuck that means.
Belle Isle is a 982-acre island park in the Detroit River, between the United States mainland and Canada, managed by the Detroit Recreation Department. It is connected to the rest of Detroit, Michigan, by the MacArthur Bridge.
It is the largest island city park in the United States and the third largest island in the Detroit River after Grosse Ile and Fighting Island.
Orion Music + More festival will take place on June 8 and June 9. No word yet on who’ll be playing…other than Metallica.
I bet Gojira tapped for it.
More details will be revealed in February, a press release says.
