Lord Dying, an incredibly sick band signed to Relapse Records, is out there on the road somewhere, blasting awesomeness while heading to the next gig on their ongoing trek in support of their forthcoming album, Poisoned Altars. The guys have been keeping a little tour diary for us, and what follows is the first installment.

Hello! We are Lord Dying from Portland, Oregon, and we are embarking on a tour with our buds Castle for three weeks and this is our tour diary!

Saturday, November 8

We leave Portland with heavy hearts as we just learned our old tour bro and amazing friend Jonathan Athon from Black Tusk was in a serious motorcycle accident. Our first show is in Spokane, Washington, and it was a long drive filled with amazing stories of the times we shared with Jonathan.

We met up with Castle and also label mates The Drip for an awesome show. Our buddy from Spokane, Jason, came with some amazing Lord Dying wood etchings as gifts! Then it’s an all-night drive to Billings, Montana, to rock with Decapitated!

Monday, November 10

After another long drive in below zero weather, we get to Salt Lake City, where Chris and Erik are from. A so-called arctic blast has been hitting everywhere we’ve been and it has been frigid!

After the guys’ parents treat the band to an awesome dinner, we hit the show and hook up with all our old buds. Afterwards, we arrive at our friends Jess and Liz’s house to find out Jess nearly cut his finger off chopping firewood!

Wait, wha...?Wait, wha...?

Wait, wha…?

He’ll be alright and besides that, it was a fun night all around, topped off with cookies frosted with pentagrams. Thanks guys!

Tuesday, November 11

We arrive in Denver, where not only do we always have an awesome time but also where our drummer, Devon, is from. We had a blast despite the methed-out couple who broke into our van right in front of the doors to the venue!

Our merch man, Jake “Cheeto” Thomason, dragged them out and got threatened that he was gonna get stabbed! The cops came and brought those losers to jail for not long enough and thankfully, the van and all our stuff was intact.

After that late night, hilarity ensued but with a day off tomorrow…I think we earned it!

Devon and his friend, Holland, hooked us up with a cheap place to get tour tats. So, off to Kitchen’s Ink and our new bud, Renee.

We decided to get a Black Tusk themed tat in remembrance of Athon. Cheeto went under the gun for the first time ever! They came out great and after a movie and some drinks with our pals at Trve Brewing, it was time for some much needed sleep!

Saturday, November 15

We are all excited to play in Mexico for the first time and also, the return of normal weather. We meet up with the promoters in El Paso and after gorging on some Texas barbecue, we cross the border into Juarez.

It was an awesome night of new friends and shredding metal. It was our only show south of the border, but we can’t wait to get back there to party again!

11/24: Bend, OR @ 3rd Street Pub
11/25: Seattle, WA @ El Corazon
