This week, Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake and frontman Jens Kidman took some time out from the studio to talk about the album they’re working on in a special video they shot for Decibel. It’s not an interview…but just a video of the dudes talking, that follows at the end of this post.
In the video, Haake says that Meshuggah are working on a “really cool album,” and that they “like the way it came out.” He says that the band is “aiming to do things different than we did on the previous albums,” and promises a fall release accompanied by a U.S. tour.
Regarding the approach to their new music, Haake offers: “Maybe not try to be as anal about every single little hit [that] has to be super-tight but be more focused on the vibe of a track and let some of those tiny errors slip through. I think that kinda breeds a bit of life into a song.”
