In this day and age, magazines have to pull out all the stops to keep from folding. More and more people are using iPads and their laptops to get information and read up on their favorite metal bands and rising paper costs aren’t helping matters much. So you can’t blame Metal Hammer for packaging awesome compilations with issues of their mag to pump up sales.
They’ve done this a few times, and now, they’ve got a Black Sabbath tribute CD on the way. You’ll get it when you buy next month’s issue, reports The PRP. So who did Metal Hammer — probably one of the last good metal reads, along with Decibel — commission for the comp? Read on.
Turisas will be tackling “Supernaut,” while Cavalera Conspiracy will be covering “Electric Funeral.” Amon Amarth is present — thankfully. They do “Children of the Grave” with Apocalyptica taking on “Spiral Architect.” Orange Goblin covers “Symptom of the Universe” and Karma To Burn also check in with their rendition of “Never Say Die.”
Definitely a compilation you give away with a magazine. Not sure you could get anyone to actually buy it. I mean, I love Amon Amarth, but this is some weak sauce compared to previous Metal Hammer freebie comps.
