Metallica Providing Free Download Of National Anthem

And when I say National Anthem, I am of course talking about America’s theme song, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” I am from America, so that’s the National Anthem in my eyes. If you live elsewhere, Metallica’s latest free download won’t interest you much.

On May 3, Metallica Night was declared at AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of baseball’s San Francisco Giants.

Members of the band participated in pre-game festivities which included throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performing the National Anthem.

Go here to download Metallica’s version for free.

The audio’s only 2-plus minutes long.

I don’t know why you’d want to listen to this song recreationally, unless you’re really into America and all.

But I do think this version should be blasted before little league games, to ensure those little players grow some nut hair.

I feel like the version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that sound like Aretha Franklin fighting an electrified cat are awful and bad for kids’ development.
