Metallica will allegedly bring back its legendary Snake Pit as part of its upcoming run of European festival shows, it is being reported.
The Snake Pit is a section of the audience next to the stage which holds between 150 to 200 fans.
Fans in the Snake Pit are given a special vantage point; they can stand and watch the show from almost within the stage set.
The Snake Pit was last used on the band’s 2012 summer tour, but has been around almost as long as Metallica have been using “in-the-round” staging.
A post on the band’s site read:
“It’s not 1992…it’s not even 2012, but the Snake Pit is back for another run this summer and we want Met Club members to be right there closest to the stage!”
Fan club members will be able to enter a contest until May 21 to win two passes to be in the Snake Pit at an upcoming Metallica concert.
Metallica is now working on its tenth album which should be in stores sometime next year.
