This is fucking rad.
In 2010 in the Netherlands, Mike Patton and the Ictus Ensemble performed a rendition of Luciano Berio’s Laborintus II.
Well, Ipecac Recordings is fixing to release that live collaboration.
Patton and Ictus Ensemble’s treatment of Berio’s 1965 masterpiece is described as “a modern concert chamber opera based on works by Dante, TS Eliot and Ezra Pound. Laborintus II mixes a whole range of musical styles, from dramatic opera to ‘60’s European jazz.”
The effort will be released through Ipecac Recordings on July 3.
I am actually psyched for this. I get psyched for anything Patton releases, even if it does end up being less than stellar.
This sounds like the kind of record I’ll love after downing ten pounds of ‘shrooms.
