In 2008, Al Jourgensen decided to bury Ministry, after a series of lackluster releases. The dude realize it was time to hang Ministry up, and I for one commended the move.
Now, it has been revealed that Ministry is back, and will play next year’s edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set for August 2 through August 4 in Wacken, Germany.
Great. That’s what the world needs: fucking Ministry. I’ve often said that if I could see any band return, it wouldn’t be Ministry. Who the hell listened to Ministry after Psalm 69, other than Al Jourgensen?
The Scorpions, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth and Gamma Ray have also been confirmed for next year’s Wacken, in addition to Cradle of Filth and U.D.O.
I feel like when bands break up, they should stay broken up for at least ten years. None of this “Let’s reunite after three years” bullshit. Why even break up? Why not just rest on your laurels for three years, and then start writing new stuff?
