Ministry To Release New Album Relapse In March

Al Jourgensen

Relapse, the new studio album from the back-in-action-even-though-they-threw-in-the-towel-a-while-back Ministry, will be released on March 30, 2012.

The album will be out through frontman Al Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records.

In 2008, Jourgensen decided to bury Ministry, after a series of lackluster releases. And I applauded the dude for realizing it was time to hang Ministry up.

In April, Al revealed that Ministry is back, and will play next year’s edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set for August 2 through August 4 in Wacken, Germany.

The Scorpions, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth and Gamma Ray have also been confirmed for next year’s Wacken, in addition to Cradle of Filth and U.D.O.

Relapse, by the way, was also the name of an Eminem album. I often wonder if these artists ever check to make sure album titles haven’t been used in recent years. Obviously, Korn doesn’t. But I figured Ministry would’ve known that Eminem put out an album by that name not that long ago.

And knowing Al’s history with heroine, that’s a rather fucked up album title to go with, no? I wonder how many of these new songs will focus on the Tea Party.
