That’s right, children.
“Mission To Lars” — a documentary feature film about Tom Spicer, a learning-disabled man who, with his siblings’ help, goes on a transatlantic quest to find his much-obsessed-over hero, tiny drummer Lars Ulrich — will premiere at Hackney Picturehouse in London, England, on June 6 at 9 p.m.
I wonder if Lars will walk the red carpet for the premiere. I wonder if he really is four-foot tall. These are questions that plague my mind.
After the screening, there will be a question-and-answer session with the film’s directors, chaired by Richard Bacon.
The film’s subject, Tom, has Fragile X Syndrome, a sort of autism. For some strange reason, all he’s ever wanted is to meet Lars.
After 20 years and 10,000 times of asking his journalist sister, Kate, when he was going to meet Lars, she finally cracked. This is a film that looks beyond disability, and uncovers the soul of a very cool guy.
