To call Morbid Angel’s forthcoming ninth LP “oft-delayed” would be like calling Charles Manson “kooky.” People have been frothing at the bit for this disc for a long, long time, but according to Bravewords, there will be a new Morbid Angel album in stores this June, through Season of Mist.
The site claims the disc will boast ten songs, “at least three of which stretch the boundaries of what is conventional Morbid territory.” One track’s called “Nevermore,” with another one titled “I Am Morbid.” It is rumored — but not yet confirmed — that the album will be called either Insurrection or Ignivomous.
Either way, the album will probably have a title that starts with the letter I, keeping with the band’s tradition of naming their albums in alphabetical order, beginning with 1989’s Altars Of Madness.
The album was tracked at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida, with the very gifted Erik Rutan, Morbid’s former guitarist. The release will be followed by a brief tour, which will mostly take the band through Europe. A complete list of tour dates will be revealed soon.
