British grindcore legends Napalm Death have been touring nonstop since the release of 2009’s Time Waits For No Slave, but soon, they’ll head back to the U.K. to begin working on their next full-length.
According to vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway, Napalm Death — who’ve been rocking my shit since the ‘90s — will start getting in writing mode early next year.
“We’ll begin to piece together [a new album] in January next year,” Greenway says. “Expect even more short, sharp shocks from what [bassist] Shane [Embury] and [guitarist] Mitch [Harris — no relation] have told me so far on the music front, and lots of stop-start spontaneity. No finished lyrics as yet — I’m waiting with baited breath on the first nasty-sounding MP3 roughs so I can lock myself away and get going.”
I happen to love that expression “waiting with baited breath.” LOVE. I use it as often as possible, and light up like a church down the street from Varg Vikernes’ house. Such an awesome expression. You don’t hear it much anymore. I always felt like half-a-fag using it, but now that I know the singer of Napalm Death uses it too, I feel manly. Quite manly.
