Neaera Debut New Track, Are Awesome

Neaera

As far as extreme metal’s concerned, Germany’s Neaera may be one of the genre’s most innovative forces. I happen to think last year’s Omnicide — Creation Unleashed was one psychopathic record with blazing guitars and schizoid vocals. Now, Neaera are returning with a new one.

The band’s forthcoming LP, Forging the Eclipse (which would be a sick band name), drops on October 26. And right now, you can hear a new track from the effort over at Metal Blade’s site. What — no embeds? Hate that. But yeah, just go here and you can listen to new Neaera — or, if you’ve never heard them before, Neaera for the first time.

“‘Heaven’s Descent’ deals with the incomprehensible cases of sexual, mental and physical abuse that have taken place over the past few years at churches, schools and clerical institutions across Germany, Europe and all over the world,” the band says about the track. It’s a feel good song.

“Over the past few months more and more of these outrageous crimes have been uncovered and victims have finally found the courage to step forward to speak out about their suffering and accuse their tormentors. Many of those criminals could never be persecuted and are hiding to this day under the cloak of false innocence and immunity. We must NEVER grow tired of uncovering injustice wherever it shows its ugly face or conceals it behind the smoke and mirrors of heavenly — or worldly — pretence, we must lend our ears and voices to those that suffer and fight against these disgraceful circumstances with all means available to us, because no matter what position you have towards the church, this is about justice and atonement for the crimes that were committed, and this is something that believers and non-believers must agree on.”

Damn, these guys are fucking serious and they play wild-eyed metal that’ll leave your ears sore. And maybe your ass. Check them out, punk-ass.
