Mastodon’s tradition — of having Scott Kelly of Neurosis sing on a new album track — will continue with the band’s next impeding opus.
Guitar man Bill Kelliher confirmed the news to Soundwave TV.
“We just got a track back from Scott Kelly from Neurosis, he always sings on a song,” says Kelliher. “And it sounds tough as nails, really exciting, I can’t wait for it to reach the masses…”
Kelly is one of several guest appearing on the album, produced by Nick Raskulinecz.
Former Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens worked with the band on a track, as did Valient Thorr’s Valient Himself.
Look for the album to hit stores this summer, with a possible EP to follow this winter.
