Nevermore’s Jim Sheppard Will Return — Oh Yes, He Will Return

Jim Sheppard

I was over on Blabbermouth before, and stumbled upon this report about Nevermore’s Jim Sheppard. You may recall that last month, dude underwent brain surgery to have a benign tumor removed. Fucking brain surgery.

Luckily, Jim is doing OK, according to Stormbringer webzine, who spoke recently with Nevermore’s Jeff Loomis; on a side note, go get Jeff’s solo album. It’s fucking glorious.

“I was talking with [Jim] right after he got the surgery. A lot of people don’t know, he actually had a brain tumor that was removed from his… you know, head,” said Loomis. “The surgery was very successful and he came out of it with flying colors. So yeah, he’s gonna be returning to the band very soon. He just needs time to recover and relax for the time being.”

And grow his hair back, I presume. The band’s been relying on Dagna Barrera as Sheppard’s fill-in as of late. “She’s really amazing,” said Loomis. “She’s picked up the songs very, very fast. And yeah, I think that was part of it — that she was also playing in Warrel’s band, that she decided she would help us out. And we’re very fortunate to have her, because she is a friend of ours from Seattle and a great bass player.”
