A gang fight Sunday (March 20) night outside Mojoes in Joliet, Illinois, has affected this coming weekend’s Chicago-area date of the 2011 Metalliance Tour, featuring Helmet, Crowbar, St. Vitus, Kylesa, The Atlas Moth, Howl and Red Fang. The tour was supposed to takeover Mojoes on Sunday (March 27), but has been moved to Bada Brew.
According to reports, the all-ages night club was shut down by Mayor Arthur Schultz; the club will have to stay closed for seven days. The fight early Sunday morning started inside the club and spilled out into the street, where a handgun was fired at least six times. Police say no one was shot.
The fight started after an argument inside the venue, where members of a street gang were questioning the gang affiliation of another patron; five or six people were involved in the fray.
Two people were arrested in connection with the fight: Jason D. Palomino, 28, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault. Marcus T. Alexander, 26, was arrested for obstructing a police officer.
