Last weekend, I listened to Nile’s new album at least five times.
I had to. I was left with a disappointed taste in my mouth following the first few times I listened to the disc. And I have to tell you…I’m honestly still on the fence.
I want to like it. I think I like it. But something’s preventing me from loving it, and that, my friends, bums me out.
Nile records don’t come along every year, so…my hopes were high. But the album is still growing on me.
If you’d like, you can download a free track from Nile here. It’s a new song called “The Fiends Who Come To Steal The Magick Of The Deceased.”
The track comes from the band’s aforementioned new album At The Gate Of Sethu, which drops July 3.
I still have lots of love for Nile. I just feel like this record may be too much of a departure (or regression), and I’m not sure I’m down with that. I am so fucking conflicted, people.
