There are a lot of cool things about the city of Vancouver. Many things. It is beautiful, and the air is so clean. There’s a fascinating street there where junkies just roam around, scratching their arms. I love Vancouver. I really do…for other reasons I shouldn’t detail. But I love Vancouver. It’s home to some good friends, and Devin Townsend.
I may have to head up there for the first annual Urban Culture Conference and Awards, which will be held at the Plaza of Nations on August 27 and August 28 in downtown Vancouver.
The conference will highlight more than 30 musical acts, dance performances, and sports exhibitions plus a craft-beer garden, local food carts, and speaking seminars. It is a celebration of all things local – music, arts, beer, food, sport, and business. Metal acts Ninjaspy, Quartered, and Southern Death Threat are the among those who’ve signed up for the conference.
Some of the other musicians who will perform at the conference include: Fighting for Ithaca, Versus the Nothing, Mia Moth, Free City Collective, Matt Brevner, Sonreal, and Okay City. A full listing of the entertainment can be found here.
As part of the conference, attendees and readers are invited to participate in the ‘Best of Vancouver’ Awards, an online voting system created to showcase the best local businesses and influential figures within Urban Culture. There are over 60 polls covering all aspects of Urban Culture, from best local beer to best tattoo shop.
