Awesome Polish progressive death metallers Obscura have entered a recording studio in Germany to start the recording of its next LP, which should drop in early 2011 through Relapse Records.
I’m psyched for this because Obscura really have a unique sound, which is hard to accomplish in death metal. And I’m just into the more progressive side of metal to begin with. According to a press release, the band will be working on the LP with engineer V. Santura.
According to vocalist Steffen Kummerer, the band is amped to be working with V. Santura and feel the “new material feels broader in some way as everybody in this band brought many unique ideas to the songwriting and we were able to integrate different elements into our sound. More open chords, more acoustic guitars, more seven-string shred tunes.
“Remember: more is always more,” he continued. “We are excited to create another album of progressive death metal and to start touring through the whole world in early 2011.”
In related news, bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling was been interviewed recently by Peta2, discussing his decision to go vegetarian. Its a fascinating interview. Truly.
